All aboard...! Print illustrates the 9 main streetcar route names of Halifax in 1927.

Once found on the streets of Halifax, streetcar tracks are now buried under pavement. Occasionally they resurface when winter exposes hints of history through dreaded potholes. One of the original forms of public transportation in many cities, the last streetcar rode down Barrington in March of 1949. In its heyday, Halifax had 11 streetcar routes. The Barrington Street route ran 1 car every 60 seconds in 1939!
