The start of a new year is a good time to take stock of the inventory of inks we have on hand. Each can was opened and inspected. Some are thick, some are near empty, and of course some have developed a skin. The rubber based inks that had a skin were fairly simple to clean up as the the rubbery top coating is easy to remove. Opposite to this is the oil based metallic inks. The brittle skin that forms on oil based inks is a challenge to clean without leaving specs in the ink. It’s sort of like getting small bits of egg shell into your omelette.
It’s nice to have everything sorted and in order. Eight cans were discarded, two will be going to new homes, and we will be making an order for four fresh cans in the coming days. Everything is set to make a good impression on 2017.
